I think I’m finding that nut butter and jam just really make the best French toast combos, after the 4th recipe in this ‘French Toast’ series. 🙂 I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun with breakfast/breakfast for lunch before, and I’m sorry (not sorry) if you’re sick of French Toast?
But… I can’t just be all light and fluffy here, because I have to share that I’ve been struggling a lot, but I’ve been seeing so much victory this week. This hymn pretty much just sums it all up.
1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.
2 Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law’s demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.
3 Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.
4 While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.
Hiding in Jesus. That is all.
Now this French toast recipe was born out of …. scratching my head and thinking, ‘What would go well with these amazing silky creamy Jem Organics Nut butters?’ They sent me 4 of their cute mini jars to do a few French toast recipes with, and they have the coolest flavors like:
Cinnamon Red Maca
Superberry Maqui Camu
Hazelnut Raw Cacao
Have you ever heard of such exotic names? …. And they certainly live up to their names. They are so powerful and silky, you could almost drink them. I think Chrissa, my friend who got me onto them, might agree?
You should have seen me trying to get photos of this … It would have probably been comical to the average food blogger, because I really need to bite the bullet and get more equipment but this is the result of Emily still pinching pennies.
This cutting board is amazing to take pictures on it, and I’m so thankful for the verse of reminder on it too.
Speaking of verses, I know this may seem random, but yesterday I was feeling really discouraged, and I typed ‘Book of Hosea Out Loud’ into You Tube.
There were some really powerful verses. Trusting in God’s promises and who He is no matter what happens, no matter how hard things can be is what I came away with after listening to the small book. God’s promises and His encouragements to His children are always sweet words to my soul. They can hurt, but they also heal the deepest wounds.
‘Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.’ (Hosea 10:12)
Well, I’m honestly rationing out Just Jan’s Jams because they are so good, and I don’t want them to be gone too quickly. However, when they are gone, you can be sure that I will definitely place my first order for Just Jan’s after getting to try them out for the blog.
This one had the deep, juicy red raspberry jam in it, and it did not disappoint.
Have you ever bit into a sandwich and the flavors explode into your mouth? That’s what this one was like.
Apples and cinnamon just seem to go really well together, although I did sprinkle about a tablespoon of cinnamon on top of this, and that might have been a little bit too much….
Well I need to stop talking and go to bed, but we can not end here without sharing this super easy, single serving recipe with you. (I actually ate half of it yesterday, but… I was pretty hungry about an hour later, so I should have eaten the last part. Needless to say, I was eating …. shortly after that. The hungriness is real, y’all.)
