(A picture of 3 of my best friends and I. This is about 4 or 5 years ago, and we’ve all gotten a little older, but the bonds, the sister bonds have only gotten stronger. Actually, I don’t think I look any different. My mom looked at a picture of me 5 years ago and she said, ‘Hey Em, I don’t think you’ve changed at all in 5 years.’ Yup, that’s my baby face.)
Christmas is amazing. I love it. It’s one of my favorite parts of the year. And it’s one of the best times to spend with your family, brothers, sisters, mom, dad, friends, and other family members doing everything from making gingerbread houses to Christmas caroling.
But this year I have to keep reminding myself that even IF I don’t do that thing that I wanted to do, I can STILL 100% celebrate Christmas.
Even if there were no: goodies, chocolates, gifts under the tree, tree, cookies; there is JESUS CHRIST! And that is the reason Christmas is so significant to me.
But through the kindness of God’s love for His kids, because He loves to give good gifts, we are able to celebrate with extra things like:
Cookies (Joy Food Sunshine and Katalyst Health have amazing recipes. Try Kat’s ‘snowball’ cookie recipe)
Donuts (Good Things Baking Co is Our NEW Resource for Donuts)
Gingerbread Houses (Walmart has fun kits)
Sugar Cookies (My sister found a delicious sugar cookie recipe this year)
I’ve tried these recipes from those sites I mentioned over the last couple weeks:
No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars/Cookie Bars (SOOOO GOOD)
Cinnamon Roll Donuts – My dad said they taste like apple fritters. 🙂
Cinnamon Scones – I used apples in them instead of cinnamon chip. SO GOOD and soft.
Gluten Free Snowball Cookies
Spiced Pear Muffins – My favorite muffins ever. basically.
Those are just a few of our new favorites around here; and I don’t take the stance either that you need to ‘change’ your eating after the holidays, so I will definitely be trying more holiday/cookie recipes even after Christmas. #FoodFreedom!
Well. . . this podcast is not all about the baked goodies. It’s actually one of my favorite podcasts I’ve ever recorded. It’s with my three best friends; they are funny, a bit sarcastic, warm, fun, and literally I laughed so much during the podcast. These are the people who have pushed me to love Jesus more, who call me out all the time about being more honest, who have born a lot of pain from me, and yet they’ve still forgiven me over and over and over.
It was so much fun having them on, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
We talked about:
– Favorite Christmas Goodies
– The time my dad lost his wedding ring
– Our favorite Christmas memories
– Our favorite Hallmark movies
– Favorite Christmas Carols
– Struggles with faith we’ve had
– Our favorite snow sports
– Why it means a LOT to receive a gift from someone and why we appreciate the giver of the gift even more than the gift
– Why the love behind a gift means so much to us
– The most memorable gifts that we had fun giving
– Just the best fun banter EVER. I love going back and forth with my sisters.
(Note: My Sisters love to make things like poems or paintings, and they are excellent at these. I can personally testify that we have one of my sisters paintings in our house, and it’s my favorite of all the pictures we have hung in the house)

May the Lord FILL your heart to OVERFLOWING with the absolute unmatchable joy of Christmas this year.
‘c] The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.
3 You have multiplied the nation;
you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
as with joy at the harvest,
as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
4 For the yoke of his burden,
and the staff for his shoulder,
the rod of his oppressor,
you have broken as on the day of Midian.
5 For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
and every garment rolled in blood
will be burned as fuel for the fire.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upond] his shoulder,
and his name shall be callede]
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.’ (Isaiah 9:2-7)
