It’s been a while. I’m not nearly as efficient as the long list of foodie bloggers I follow who seem to be creating 3 or 4 recipes EVERY DAY. I kind of … made this up last night, so I’m hoping that anybody who tries it enjoys it, Lord willing! Ready yourself for some creamy deliciousness!
Every day is such a gift from God through our Lord Jesus Christ. When God shows His grace, it completely changes your life. Life can’t stay depressing. The prospect of death is only the passing from this world to worship in heaven. Life is to dwell in Christ and His promises and the reality of what He did when He came to earth. Trials are reminders of God’s love, His grace, and glory. Good times remind us of His abundant blessings and His mercy. To live is Christ. To die is gain!
Remember. His grace is ABUNDANT even in our weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9, ‘Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me,“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Remember. His grace was shown in SPITE of us. ALL have sinned. That’s what makes it a TRULY incredible, unspeakable gift. Romans 3:20-24, ‘For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it– the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
It’s wonderful to be reminded of this gift when I feel down or discouraged and to prompt me to more joy in the Lord. The times of discouragement are opportunities to RUN back to the throne of grace, stay at the foot of the cross and remember that His grace constrains me to daily dying to the flesh and living more in Christ, by His power alone.
Some crunchy honey peanut butter that we dug into today… 🙂
One of the best ways for me to think on and meditate on these truths that have CRUSHED and are crushing the idol of ED is to cook or bake. Sometimes, I just can’t verbalize them, because they’re too wonderful. Yet, I can think about them as I mix up breakfast, a snack, lunch, or dinner for my family. Other bloggers provide the perfect opportunity to even share the recipes that I occasionally come with on a whim while I’m thinking.
Well, Arman and Amanda know how to get people to be creative while thinking, because every week (for a little while) they’ve been hosting a ‘Sweet and Savory Saturday Link-up.’ I’m FINALLY joining in with all the other FANTASTIC foodies (who are also much better at taking pictures) and sharing a recipe I made up…. um…. last night. O_O
Post Recipe creation snack… My homemade crunchy honey peanut butter and an apple… Thanking the Lord for simplicity and for nourishment. <3
I guess you could say that when you want to make good use of the resources God has given you in our Lord Jesus Christ, you have to get creative.
I didn’t have milk for this recipe, so I had to do something different. I knew I wanted to make baked oatmeal for my mom before she goes to a counseling class in the morning.
You don’t have milk? Well, we had a HUGE Costco size bucket of sour cream. I watered it down significantly, and it turned into a really creamy oatmeal. The theme of the week was also MAPLE syrup. I didn’t realize till this week (O_O) that maple syrup has a SIGNIFICANTLY different flavor from regular syrup. Wow, I’m 22 years old, almost 23, and I just learned that. I am slow.
- 4 tsp. maple syrup
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 c. sour cream (diluted with 1 cup water)
- 1/4 c. coconut creamer (or any type of milk)
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1.25 cups oats
- 8 blackberries
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Whisk together eggs, maple syrup, sour cream (diluted with water), coconut creamer (or milk) and cinnamon. Mix in oats. Arrange blackberries in an artistic manner on the top. (Think smiley face or heart or star.) Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the oats are set. You don't really want any 'jiggle' with this recipe. Top with any of your preferred toppings.
I’m sorry that the pictures are not the greatest, but I am going to try to get some good ones, Lord willing, when I pull it out of the oven in the morning! 🙂
Ephesians 2:8-9, ‘For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.’
I hope you can try this, and if you do email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know what you think! Or you can tag me on Instagram @beauty.in.christ with your picture. 🙂
