Every day this past week, I was learning a valuable lesson.
Psalm 62:5, ‘5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.’
I stink at being still, but I’m learning there is such value in it. I like to say that I’m a bit ‘ADD’, because I do have a really tough time slowing down, sitting still, and I do sympathize with the little ones in church on a Sunday morning. However, I love being there so it’s definitely something I can sit for, and it’s been a good precious lesson in learning to be still. I was reading Ashley’s story of recovery from hypothalamic amenorrhea, and it made me think about how important it is to rest and slow down.
That means that I have to be wise about the things I say, ‘Yes’ to and the things I say ‘No’ to.
This past week was just that kind of week.
What did I say yes to and no to this week? I was thinking about that this week, as I’m still struggling with having a schedule that really helps my body feel safe enough to have a regular cycle. I am STILL wrestling with that balance of activity, rest, food, nourishment, but I don’t want to be overly focused on myself; if that makes sense?
This week I said, ‘no’ to something I normally do, because I just felt too overwhelmed by it this week.
This week I said ‘No’ to practicing my pull-ups everyday, because my body needs rest time.
This week I said, ‘No’ to LOTS of dog training. Instead I just hung out with the huskies which was fun.
This week I said yes to organizing a bit, decluttering a bit, and doing some general spring cleaning (but not too much to exhaustion).
This week I said, ‘Yes’ to a bath, because I hadn’t taken a bath in a long time, and it was SOOO restful and refreshing.
This week I said, ‘yes’ to more time with my sisters listening to a Lord of the Rings audio drama.
This week I said, ‘Yes’ to eating until my body was completely satisfied even if my ‘calorie’ alarms were going off.
This week I said ‘Yes’ to reading more of my favorite blogs and found some gems I think you would love.
