You are valuable because God says so. That’s sometimes a hard statement to swallow in a world where it feels like we have to find our value in: what we do, the accomplishments, the places we’ve traveled, the friends we have, the page views on our blog, or the amount of figures in our bank account.
Yet I love Psalm 139:13-18, ‘
For You formed my inward parts;
You f]covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for g]I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My h]frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.
Soak in those words with me.
His thoughts are precious towards His children.
He knows every one of my days.
He made me one of His MARVELOUS works.
This is the God of the universe, the living and true God who takes care of the whole world, and yet He knows me? He values me. He values life. He made life.
The devil comes to steal and to kill and to destroy.
But that’s not God. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to GIVE LIFE.
That’s why I wanted to do an episode all about: Value.
- Where I find my value
- Why our value can’t be found in money or success or accomplishments
- Why value in what God says about us does not change
- Scriptures that have pointed me back to that value God places on me
- Why man is God’s most valuable creation
- Why value needs to start with God and Who He is
- Being rooted and grounded in what Scripture says about value
- Why I had to learn that I was preaching value to others but not really believing it myself
That wasn’t easy for me to swallow, when someone told me that I was/am valuable too, but it made me realize that I’m a hypocrite if I don’t believe the things I’m sharing with others. God used it to point me back to Him and be reminded of how He, the God Almighty of the WHOLE entire universe, places value on mankind.
It’s not because mankind is amazing by ourselves.
It’s because God created us. He made us in His image.
And He calls His creation valuable.
I hope you are encouraged by this message as much as I have been this past year.
