Alliteration. I’m not normally one who is good at alliteration, but this one was relatively easy. 😉
The Food at FitBloggin’…. Here’s a rundown. Before I run it all down for you though, I have to share that I loved the attitude the conference created around food. They didn’t obsessively talk about nutrition. They gave helpful tips, offered free samples from Silk, General Mills, Kelloggs, California Avocado, and others, but they didn’t guilt anyone into a certain way of dieting or eating. The attitude of the bloggers was kind. Nobody talked about the way they ate like others should eat that way. Yet, they offered plenty of different changes that would cater to any sort of eating lifestyle like Paleo, low-carb, more carbs, meat, no meat, dairy free, dairy-full, gluten-free, gluten-full. It made the eating atmosphere one of the most enjoyable I’ve ever encountered outside of my home.
Thursday Night. It was sushi. I <3 sushi everybody. I’m 1/4 Japanese, and so I think that plays into it, and my dad was always raised as a missionary child for about 10+ years in Japan. All this lends to me being a BIG fan of sushi.
I didn’t, sadly, get pictures of the sushi, but I did get pictures of the delicious meals the next day.
1. Friday Breakfast (Oatmeal, Eggs, Bacon, Potatoes, toppings, PLAIN YOGURT (I <3 plain yogurt and regular yogurt, but I’ve almost never been to a hotel that has plain yogurt. Thanks Roni for that choice!), and greek yogurt.)
They served breakfast out of these beautiful dishes, and I was a bit starry-eyed, I admit, as I never go to hotels that have this fancy of service. Roni and Fitbloggin’ staff truly outdid themselves! 🙂
Yogurt + Toppings. Granola is my favorite cereal.
2. Friday Lunch (Salad with a green vinaigrette and goat cheese, rustic bread with a selection of sandwich meats, fruit skewers, gazpacho, and the best potato salad, evah!) Don’t you just love the color and variety that God made in our food? He is the best artist. He is such an AMAZING God, Creator, and Lord.
Psalm 95:6, “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.”
And the goat cheese for the salad? I didn’t realize till today when I was looking at the label, that it was goat cheese. I have had really good goat cheese and really bad goat cheese (mostly bad), but this tasted exactly like normal feta cheese.
My lunch plate… 🙂
4. Friday Snack – Ok, so after struggling with my eating issues for a long time I had a difficult time snacking. If the snack wasn’t rigidly programmed into my ‘calories for the day’, it was off limits. As I’ve gotten farther along, I’ve learned to let my hair down and snack. I’m listening to my body more and eating before I become SUPER HUNGRY WOMAN. I actually found that I was still hungry at the afternoon snack time, and so I shut out the voices saying, ‘Don’t EAT. You will ruin your dinner.’ So, I ate. I am so thankful God gave us tortilla chips and guac? Anybody else?
5. Friday night Dinner. I was super tired, and so I left the conference early. I sadly missed the ‘Ignite Fitness’, but I was able to get a triathlon brick workout in at my hotel and then guzzle down this Stonyfield Organic Protein Smoothie. At first I thought it was going to be super sweet. I don’t like sickeningly sweet protein drinks, but this surprised me. It was sweet enough to be satisfying like chocolate milk after a workout, but not like drinking icecream. I do like icecream, just not as a post workout recovery drink.
The rest of the meals were REALLY good. The other memorable meal/snack I was able to try at Fitbloggin’ was Yulu yogurt from Silk (White Wave Foods). I didn’t get to try the dairy free yogurt, but the Yulu yogurt was my favorite kind of yogurt, creamy, smooth, and really good paired with
Do you like snacking? What are some of your favorite snacks?
If you have struggled with eating issues, was it hard for you to snack (like it was/sometimes still is for me)?
Guacamole? Yes or no? Why or why not?
