Disclaimer: Don’t take this as advice from a health professional, which I am not. It is solely my opinion and experience, sharing with you my struggles in this area.
Wouldn’t it be funny if an apple was labeled like that?
Well, there is a great deal of nutritional information online. There are opinions, studies, articles, and endless forums that make my head spin. There are 100s of different diets that work for hundreds of different people.
I tend to be very peer oriented when it comes to nutrition. If one of my friends or the blogger I respects is going after something, I don’t always think about it before diving in headfirst. It’s of course, NOT their fault. It’s the way my sinful heart takes the information or the articles and idolizes or overanalyzes them.
The point is that I can’t be running around following every new theory, every new article, or new opinion, because, for me it’s stressful and it causes me to stumble. Romans 14:23 is a really good verse for this, “But the person who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not act in faith; and anything that is not done in faith is sin. But the man who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not do so from faith, and whatever is not from faith is sin.”
Don’t believe everything you read. Each body is different, and one approach doesn’t always work for another person. Appreciate the individuality of what works for different people, but don’t be anxious if that doesn’t work for you, because God made you unique as well.
For one, maybe ask someone who actually knows and has studied food. Consult a nutritionist or a dietitian and don’t feel pressured or stressed to take on every new nutritional theory and diet. Trust in God and He will lead you in the path that you should go.
