Before you listen to this podcast: Please know that we gently address but honestly the struggle of sexual temptation and lust and being FREE through the power of Jesus Christ on the cross and His rising again on the third day. This may not be something for really young girls to listen to; please use discretion.
You all know that relationships have been tough for me this year, especially potential romantic relationships. They’ve been painful, but they have also taught me just how much I need to grow in humility, love for Jesus, and love for His body. The Lord has brought two more serious relationships into my life in the past 4-5 years, and both have been hard, even though the Lord providentially brought a close to them both; so I am still single, still seeking the Lord for His mission for my life.
What if you’ve experienced really painful relationships? What if they haven’t been at all the dreamy love story you imagined? What if you’ve had so much hurt in your relationships and been convicted of sin, that you can’t see a way to healing and redemption?
Well I want to tell you my dear friend Naomi’s story. Naomi was so personal, so honest, so humble in this podcast. She talked about:
– The consequences of not saving certain things till marriage
– Young women’s struggles with lust and sexual temptation
– how to fight the temptations to sexual lust as a young woman
– the importance of God’s Word and accountability and prayer in these battles
– the WHY of marriage being more important than having ‘Disney’ style feelings
– seeking God’s kingdom first in finding a spouse
– finding healing after tough, hard, broken relationships
– why some romance books, even Christian ones, can bring up feelings and desires that are not helpful
Books to Mention:
Song of Solomon 8:4, ‘I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases.’
1 John 1:5-7, ‘This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.’
Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Song I Mentioned:
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
2. Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are!
3. His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

I am so thankful for these sisters in Christ like Naomi who are willing to share the painful relationships and what God has brought out of it; there is so much redemption and hope to be found in Jesus Christ. There is never any story that is too far gone for the Lord Jesus Christ, because He came to SAVE!
