Maybe this isn’t a surprise to you, but I like peanut butter. Anybody else with me? If you check out many of my other lovely friends and comrades in the Bloggers Gonna Blog Community, you’re going to find that we think along the same lines.
I’m glad that God used George Washington Carver to open up the world of uses for the peanut. If you’ve never heard the story, you should check it out here.
I LOVE peanut butter, but would you believe that I used to be afraid of peanut butter? I didn’t realize just how crucial fat is to so many parts and processes of the human body.
Eating disorders play with your mind. I believe that the devil is the father of lies, and he used the lies that things that God had created good were bad or ‘unhealthy’ for me. BUT, God has power over the devil, and by His grace, He has and is CRUSHING those lies in my head and pointing me back to Him everyday.
God created everything good, and I can give thanks for everything that He has made for His glory, including fats, and that has been one of the most liberating realizations of recovery.
I can enjoy fat. Fat is yummy. And it’s not only good tasting, but it’s good for me. Isn’t it incredible that God not only made food and even gave us the gift of tastebuds to savor every flavor?
So… I set out on the quest to try different peanut butters. I’ve tried Wild Friends, PB&CO, Kirkland, and I’ve even been privileged to try Justin’s Almond Butter.
But the other day, I discovered a peanut butter on Instagram, one that I had never heard of before. It was called, ‘Bhappy Peanut Butter.’ Who couldn’t love a name like that?
Well, about a week later this box shows up in the mail. It showed up with 6 jars of 6 different flavors including Happy Trails (chocolate chips, flaxseed, raisins, and peanuts), Dream Big (white chocolate and pretzels and peanuts), Count Your Blessings (milk chocolate, dried cherries, and peanuts), Go Lucky (rice krispies, toffee, and chocolate), Pay It Forward (apples, cinnamon, and peanuts), and Keep Smunchy (a regular super crunchy peanut butter.)
I think we may have devoured about 1/2 of a jar in one night. Bhappy Peanut Butter is really unique, because they’re filled with all sorts of unique, sweet, crunchy mix-ins. You definitely have to be a fan of crunchy peanut butter to love these, but I think you could even love them if you’re not a crunchy peanut butter lover, because they make toppings for so many things (not just bread and sandwiches.) They go on ice cream, yogurt, bread, and just on a plain ole spoon.
So if you’re looking for a new peanut butter to try, um… don’t wait. 🙂 Of course, you may have to chain the refrigerator closed after you try them in order to practice self-control.
Eat some peanut/nut butter for me today. 🙂 I’ll be eating with you in spirit.
Psalm 105:1-4, ‘O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works; Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord; Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.’
Thankful for God’s simple gifts of peanut butter and His TREMENDOUS unspeakable gift of salvation and healing and reconciliation today. <3
