I thought it would be fun to give you a download of the recent eats that I’ve been enjoying. Lately, I’ve really realized that this blog is to encourage others. For a long time I really wanted it to be a blog combined with a business. Yet that’s not my life. And I’m coming to contentment with that. I’m okay with this blog being a fun/encouraging/hopefully deeply thinking truthful and loving space of the internet. I thought it would be a joy to share a recent eats post, and just share that freedom from food obsession is real. Freedom from fearing foods of different types or large amounts of food is real, and it’s totally possible in Jesus Christ, in God’s grace.
So let’s get to food. Food is such an amazing gift of nourishment. It’s something that we need to do life every day. It’s something we need to live and breathe here on this earth; and it all comes from God. It’s really such a blessing, and I often take it for granted.
Icecream – A delicious waffle cone Sundae from Sonic was had on Sunday evening after Bible Study. We were in the book of Ezra, and there was so much that we learned that I’d never noticed before when reading Ezra.
Isn’t it amazing how you can keep reading the Bible your whole life and it truly always teaches you something new about knowing God and His great plan, His justice, His mercy, His love?
‘Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9 For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.’ (Ezra 9: 7-9)
I also enjoyed this delicious ice cream sundae on Monday night in these fun candy melt bowls (that my sister made). She had seen them done on Instagram, I think, and she was able to make them by forming them around a little balloon. They became these cute yellow ‘chocolatey’ bowls that you could put your ice cream inside of and fill it with your favorite toppings.
Toast: It’s fun to switch up the toppings on your toast, and these always make really good pre-run snacks. They’re not too heavy, but they’re heavy enough to keep me satisfied and full for 1.5 -2 hours. I love to load up the toast so it’s almost hard to hold. 🙂
The mornings here have been absolutely beautiful, and I’ve been loving getting out in the morning and just being out in God’s creation and wondering at all the green grass and the peaceful quiet morning hours.
Then there’s BBQ food. All the hamburgers, chicken, potato salad. One of my very favorite parts about summer time is most definitely the bbq food. The watermelon is so juicy. The peaches explode with flavor. The hamburgers are so fun to put together with all your favorite condiments. We have one friend who loves to even put chips on his hamburgers. 🙂 There was also the BEST burger ever from Smash Burger.
You have to admit that fellowship around food is always delightful. It’s fun to make delicious flavors, all the flavors that God has given us to discover, and blend them together and then serve them to people. Watching people laugh together while eating, talk about serious things, and even pray together while they’re talking during a meal is really a gift.
All the Salad and Greens and Bowls: Salads just taste so good during the summer, and it’s really fun to be able to do many different combos. The most unique one I’ve seen this year online included watermelon and feta. I haven’t tried that yet, but our family loves:
All the Square Bars: Square Bars and Perfect Bars are my favorite protein bars ever, and these ones have been such delicious delightful starts to the morning. I’m out of them now, but I stocked up for a few weeks (after they had their last pre-summer sale).
I love their Chocolate Crunch, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chocolate Coconut, and Chocolate Nuts n’ Sea Salt. 🙂
I should update you all and say that I started the ‘healing’ part of my digestive protocol with my dietitian. I’m hopeful and excited and learning to trust God knowing that it will succeed if it’s His will.
And that’s a wrap. 🙂 I thought I would share a lighter post, because I have a heavier post/podcast that’s coming up on Thursday or Friday, and I want to prepare for it. Can you pray that it would go well?
