Jess has a wonderful story. Isn’t it cool meeting other people and talking about how God has worked in their lives? Jess is my co-host, and I love this girl so much. She just breathes the life and love of Jesus Christ. His words like living water pour out of her, and I can’t help but be attracted to her. But Jess hasn’t always been the way she is right now. Jess blessed me and the podcast listeners with sharing her story. She shared her story of growing up in a Christian home, an eating disorder, how college strengthened her faith, and more.
Can I thank God just a little bit here for how He brought me to Jess?
Jess and I are very different.
Jess is the creative mind behind this podcast. She is the one who wants to and reminds me that we need to do this excellently as unto the Lord. She reminds me that this podcast is about doing it for the Lord, not for fitting into the culture.
John 7:37-39, ‘ On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, asa] the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.’
This is Jess to me. I have not met this girl in person, but I think it’s incredible how God connects Christians on the one basis of Christ Jesus. We could be incredibly different. We could come from all different walks of life, but Jesus is the instant connecting point between us.
In the episode Jess shared:
– When she started to walk more closely with the Lord
– Her struggle with wanting to be the person that looked a certain way
– Learning that seeking after and hungering after God is so much more rewarding than seeking everyone’s acceptance
– Why college was one of the best growing experiences in her life
– Her journey growing up in a Christian home
– Her struggles with an eating disorder
– The victory and the peace and the contentment God has given her in singleness
– When Jess really started to grow in learning about Christ centered friendship
– What deep friendship has looked like as she’s gotten into college
Jess is an introvert, and what she’s taught me is that introverts can invest intentionally in friendship while taking that quiet, alone time to refill your cup and rest and wait on the Lord.
It is incredibly encouraging to me after 25 years of growing up in a Christian home to hear Jess’s story and to know that there are struggles and challenges that you will face growing up in a Christian home just as much as if you didn’t grow up in a Christian home.
It made me grateful for how God has worked in us in very similar ways, and I thought it was wonderful to hear how God has worked in us in different ways and different situations and brought us together for this podcast.
Our goal is to continue to share how God is working in us and how we’re not perfect, but that Jesus is the only reason we can figure out anything and have confidence and trust in the ups and downs of life all the way to eternity.
