I have always loved to move. I know that even before my history with ED and exercise addiction, I loved being outside. I would get bored easily, just because I loved movement so much; I would always say, ‘Please don’t resign me to a computer job.’ It wasn’t until I got older that I was more formally introduced to what many call ‘exercise.’ And exercise has been both a tremendous blessing in my life and a tremendously hard thing to balance especially in recovery. That’s why today’s podcast is with my friend Jamie weighing both the pros and the cons of exercise in our own recovery journeys.
What are some of the pros for me?
Exercise (gentle exercise) is actually destressing for me especially at this point in my life. I love a good no impact workout or a 30 minute weights workout that doesn’t include a lot of jumping or joint pounding.
Running has helped me heal. It’s marked different part of my recovery journey.
