Oh. Burnout. It’s a word I’ve come to know really well being on Instagram for the past 3-4 years. It’s a word millennials know well, and many millennial generation gals and guys have used this word to me more than once. But as a Christian when I feel ‘burnt out’ this verse comes to me from Galatians 6:9, ‘And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.’
This week I seriously wanted to just give up. I wanted to come home, watch movies all day and give up on fighting. I’ve been tired. Life has been busy, crazy, heavy, sad, happy, all at once, and I kind of wanted to crumple under it.
then this other verse came to me today after I looked at my friend Katie’s Instagram (well.and.whole).
Matthew 11:28-30, ‘Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’
I know Jesus wants me to take up my cross and follow Him, and that delights me because He took up His cross and went all the way to the grave and to heaven for His bride, the church, for me as part of His church, and that thrills my heart. I GET TO FOLLOW JESUS!
