1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
There are a good deal of diets out there on the web. They usually emphasize one thing or one certain principle that will help the recipient of the diet lose weight.
You have low carb diets, high protein diets, low fat diets, no sugar diets, no dairy diets, no gluten diets, simple diets (fruits, vegetables & meat), and supplement diets, to name just a few.
I know I didn’t cover them all, but the idea of a diet is really draining and unhelpful for a girl struggling with an eating disorder.
I do not discount a diet, at all, for people trying to change their lifestyle or lose weight that they truly need to lose, but for an anorexic, orthorexic, or bulimic, the idea of a diet is more hurtful than helpful. It puts me into an idolatrous cycle, something that serves to tear me down, more than build me up.
That’s why, for myself, instead of a sugar free diet or a 100% clean eating diet, I am, by God’s grace alone, pursuing a healthy, joyful lifestyle, learning to rejoice in the Lord always and thank Him for the salads, the ice-cream, the apples, and MOST of all His abundant goodness towards me.
