Instagram. I’ve had such an up and down relationship with the social media platform, but right now I would say the relationship with is much more positive than it’s ever been before. For too long I focused on numbers (and I KNEW I shouldn’t), but I did, and it was a numbers comparison focus game that was not good. One of the girls who stood out to me in the Instagram world in terms of a healthy balanced view of Instagram and its blessings and how to use it was Jasmine. Jasmine posts under the username, Lively Meals on Instagram, and she would always share snippets in her stories of Bible verses and reminding me that Instagram isn’t about number of likes or comments or even followers.
To read a couple posts I’ve shared about social media and another podcast about Instagram you can follow these links:
It’s about doing it for God’s glory and loving other people.
Galatians 1:10 in particular was one verse that she shared (I think it was last week), ‘For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.’
In the episode Jasmine got into how she started her Instagram. She shared:
Her favorite things to Instagram
Being Yourself on Instagram and Not Getting into the Comparison Game
Why Prayer Is Such an Important Part of Instagram (Philippians 4:6 comes to mind, ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.’)
Why Jasmine Has Learned That She Has To Separate Herself From the Popular Trends on Instagram
How Jasmine Learned to Seek the Lord and About Seeking the Lord for the Future of Her Instagram
Choosing Who You Follow Wisely On Instagram
How She Stays Focused on the People, the Precious Human Souls, Not The Number of Followers
. . . I LOVED this interview. I am often so lost about how to have the right motivation for Instagram, and Jasmine has been an instrument of the Lord in reminding me that I need to do it for the Lord, in the fear of the Lord, for the love of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of the people God has made.
Jasmine also blogs at a lovely blog called ‘Lively Meals’, and this GIRL knows how to cook and bake. There’s a reason I steered away from being a food blog, because although I love to cook and bake (my food doesn’t look nearly as beautiful, and I’m ok with that. I just don’t want to share most of the recipes because I don’t consider myself a food blogger.) However Jasmine is, and she does an excellent beautiful job!
I have to showcase some of her beautiful creations from her blog. To learn more about Jasmine and the life journey God is taking her on you can read her most recent life blog post called, ‘Follow Your Dreams.’
I want to hear from you all! I’m also linking up with Amanda to share this podcast for ‘Thinking out Loud’ Thursday.
