Recovery is not a pretty thing or an easy walk in the park; I have often wished that I could be like the people who just put calorie counting behind them, don’t worry about exercise, and they recover in what seems to be a short time. But what you and I don’t see behind the scenes are the difficult thoughts, the challenges that come up day by day.
What are some of these challenges? Why is it hard to say, ‘I’m recovered?’
– We have so much input from the culture around us. – The culture is constantly coming out with new diets or making you feel like you should be trying this new way of eating because everybody else is doing it. This happens to me when people do the Whole 30. I don’t condemn them at all, but I know just where my head would go if I did it. However, I find myself questioning my own food choices when I see people hop on the Whole 30 in January. I wonder, ‘Am I eating really ‘unhealthy’ if I’m not eating the Whole 30 way?’
