Seeing the sun rise and set is such a good reminder for me of God’s mercy and the beauty of God turning His face back to us. Do you usually see the sunrise or sunset? .
Evolution. It’s a theory. It’s the theory of how macro evolution brought man into being. Yet how does random evolution explain the wonder of the human body, the uniqueness of men and women vs. animals? We’re nothing alike. Animals are cool, but men and women are different. We didn’t come from animals. We didn’t evolve from gorillas. They are cool creatures, but to say that we evolved from them devalues human life, devalues the human soul.
I do believe in little adaptations, that God made our bodies with certain abilities to adapt to certain environments. When it’s summer time I find that 75 degrees is not that hot. Yet when it turns to winter time 75 degrees seems hot. O_O It’s amazing, because God made us to change for those conditions.
But have we ever seen the evolution of an ape to a man? We haven’t.
As a Christian, I believe that man has a purpose. And it doesn’t go to the end of his life and stop there. We were created for something more.
That purpose is to glorify God.
‘Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:’ (Isaiah 43:5)
We fell far short of that glory of God when Adam sinned, and we all fell in Adam.
We weren’t just made to live for a few moments here.
We weren’t just brought here to make money. Money is a blessing, but it wasn’t why we were made.
We were created for God, the intimate, majestic, just God of the whole world. We were made to give Him glory, to fall down at His feet and worship Him. We weren’t made to give glory to those things that will fade away like money or food or bodies. Those things are blessings, but they don’t deserve worship.
‘Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
12 Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare his praise in the islands.
13 The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.’ (Isaiah 43:11-13)
We weren’t made to give glory to men and women who are imperfect.
Man is a noble creation not an animal, but we are creations. We didn’t make ourselves.
There is One Greater than us.
And He made you and me.
‘In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.’ (Genesis 1:1-4)
‘ Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the Lord of hosts, is his name,’ (Jeremiah 32:18)
It makes me sad when people say that we came from animals, because it devalues human life. It puts human life on the same par with animal life, yet animals don’t have a soul. Animals are wonderful gifts, and I love animals a lot. We have about 10-11 animals right now ourselves, but the human being has so much value because of God making mankind special.
Think about this.
The world you see around you? Does it make sense that it just evolved out of random matter?
There is a far greater, far more awesome explanation, and I want to encourage you if you’ve not thought about it before to really delve into the beauty, the marvel of the world, and ask, ‘Where did it all come from?’
If you are a creation of God, made in His image, made for His glory, is not your purpose more than this earth?
Mark 8:36, ‘For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?’
Are you a creationist or evolutionist? What are your thoughts?
What gives men and women value? Do you think that the theory of evolution devalues life?
