Wow. What a year. It was a year I’m not going to soon forget. It was a really good year as I detailed in this blog post. Yet, it was also a very different year in one big way.
It was the year I stopped saying, ‘No’ to 80% of things and started to say, ‘Yes’ again. It was the year that my eating disorder finally started to majorly fade into the background. It was the year that my fear of traveling started to dissipate.
And it was also the year when I said, ‘YES’ to a crazy wonderful trip that changed my life and my relationship with my sister in so many ways.
I wanted to detail that for you in a podcast. A podcast that lays out why I found this year of saying, ‘Yes’, SO exhausting, incredibly rewarding, wonderfully growing, and it also taught me that it’s ok to say, ‘Yes’ and ‘No’.
In this podcast I share:
Why I wanted this to be the year of not saying ‘no’ anymore
The main reasons i had said ‘no’ for so many years
How saying ‘Yes’ led me to much more spontaneity
Why saying ‘Yes’ enabled me to grow in ways I hadn’t been willing or wanting to grow in (in years) .
Learning to say ‘Yes’ to the right things
Also learning that saying ‘no’ is not wrong or mean
Matthew 6:33 comes to mind when I think about all the things that happened this year. There were many times I felt overwhelmed, and all I wanted to do was curl up in a ball and be done and say, ‘Lord, I’m ready. Whenever you want to take me to heaven, I’m game to go.’
‘But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.’
But to live is Christ. And so this next year, I pray it’s one of thanksgiving, living, and most of all, seeking God’s kingdom first.
What are you most thankful for this year?
Have you learned that saying ‘Yes’ can bring some really GOOD things into your life? How do you know what to say ‘Yes’ and what to say ‘No’ to?
So very excited for this one, Emily!! Thank you for sharing <3
I hope it’s a huge blessing to you Ashley. <3 . I hope you're doing well my friend. <3 . May your heart be abiding in Jesus' goodness.
